Golden Girls
Two past pupils of Wisbech Grammar School have made the journey to St James’s Palace to receive the Duke of Edinburgh’s gold award.
Mary Booth, who is now studying medicine at Leeds University, and Sarah Knight, currently on a gap year, met the Earl of Wessex, who achieved the award himself in 1986, at the prestigious ceremony.
They were presented with certificates by BBC Breakfast news presenter Bill Turnbull as well as being handed a brooch and badge for achieving the scheme’s highest honour.
Award leader Miss Mary Barrington, who accompanied the girls to London, said: “I was pleased that they worked so hard to get it completed.” |
