WGS Pupil to Captain England roller hockey team
A King’s Lynn student has been selected to captain the England under 17 roller hockey team at the European championships.
Han Wei Lim (16) has taken time off his AS Level studies at Wisbech Grammar School to lead the team in a series of six five-a-side matches in the French town of Dinan (starting September 12).
The experienced player, who took up the sport at the age of six after watching ice hockey films, has already represented his country on two previous occasions at the European championships.
A member of the Peterborough roller hockey club, he trains on two evenings during the week and attends national training sessions in the city once a month.
He said: “I was very pleased when I heard that I had been made captain. I was always being prepared for the role this year, because this is my third year at national level and most players do not have that much experience.” |
